CNBA Business Association Meeting Minutes
June 12, 2013, 8:00 a.m.
Colts Neck Library
Glen Dalakian called meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. and welcomed everyone.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Vince Tessi.
CNBA officers introduced themselves.
Mike Tormey made motion to approve January minutes. Greg Calderaro second. Motion was passed.
Dave Sokoler gave Treasurer’s report – CNBA currently has a balance of $2,889.61 in Money Market (scholarship account), $10,740.71 in PNC Operating Account and $7,318.70 in PayPal Account – Total $20,949.02. A motion was made to approve Treasurer’s Report by Mike Tormey and second by Greg Calderaro. Motion passed.
Glen announced that Sil Lutkewitte passed away last week. Greg Calderaro placed Sil’s cowboy hat on the chair where Sil always sat. Glen said that Sil was one of the founding members of CNBA and always faithful to CNBA for seven years. He was a pillar of the community, humble, quiet and impactful. He suggested condolences be sent to Sil’s family. CNBA is considering getting some type of memorial in Sil’s memory and donating it to the town such as a bench, etc. Glen asked the membership to consider ideas and send to him in an email for the next meeting.
Glen said that prayers are needed for Sal Barbagallo and his family. Sal is having open heart surgery at this moment to have two valves replaced. Glen will send an update on Sal later today in an email.
Glen introduced Mr. Vince Tessi, DECA advisor and business teacher form Colts Neck High School. Mr. Tessi introduced the two DECA student winners of the Colts Neck Business Association scholarship – John Sadano, who will be attending Loyola University, MD and Ariel Kaufman, who will be attending George Washing University, DC as a business major. Mr. Tessi then discussed the business courses at CNHS and DECA. John and Ariel address the CNBA membership about their DECA experience and thanked everyone for the scholarship. David Sokoler awarded each $1K scholarship to them.
Glen said that there are two new businesses in town – Subway and Johnson & Urban. If anyone knows a new business, contact Glen. CNBA wants to help new businesses.
The seasonal mailer is out. Andrea and Sue will begin work on the Fall mailer in a few weeks.

Anna said Cultivating Connections in Colts Neck will be held on July 16 from 6 – 9 pm at Pebble Creek. Postcard flyers are available today to take along with posters. Vendor tables are $125.00. It is a good networking opportunity. Greater Monmouth Group along with Eatontown Industrial Group will be participating.
The BlueClaws event will be held on August 24. Tickets are $10.00 - 10 or more are $9.00. Group will be recognized on the scoreboard. There are 11 table spots available at $200.00 each, which will include the table plus 20 tickets. The information is on the CNBA website. Flyers are here today along with the forms.
Mike said the Pig Roast will be held on September 16 at Bucks Mill Community Center. There were over 100 people in attendance last year. Tickets are $25.00 per person. A table of 10 is $200.00. Mike said it is a fun night to invite family, friends and business associates.
The Town Hall meeting will be held in October. It will educate the public and be a networking opportunity. Greg Calderaro will head the committee. It will draw a lot of people. Anna Appolonia, Sue Fitzpatrick, Allison Antonucci, Steve Nager and Dan Fenski volunteered to be on committee. The venue and date is TBD.
Election of officers will be held in November. Leadership volunteers are needed. Criteria is being a resident of Colts Neck or having a business in Colts Neck. Glen said to let him know if you are interested in running for election. A slate is needed by October.
David spoke about the Added Value program. Business cards are collected at each meeting and every quarter, a winner is chosen. The prize is $500.00 cash and services valued at $1500.00. The next drawing will be at the July 10 meeting.
Glen thanked Dan Fenski for setting up the room, Bob Gassaway for picking up the coffee and Perkins to supplying the coffee.
Jill has a list of Colts Neck Fair Dunk Tank workers and dunkees. She would like a CNHS representative as a dunkee. A dunkee is needed for Saturday from 9 – 10 pm. CNHS students have volunteered to work. Andrea recommended a CNHS coach. Contact Anita DeDalis regarding vendor tables at the fair.
Patty said there are no new updates. Events are on the website calendar page along with links to forms for events. RFP are out for new CNBA website revamping. Vendors will be known by next meeting.
Dave said speakers with relevant topics are needed for meetings.
Mike said membership is at 163 and counting.
