CNBA Business Association Meeting Minutes
February 13, 2013, 8:00 a.m.

Glen Dalakian called meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. and welcomed everyone.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Sil Lutkewitte.
Bob Gassaway made motion to approve January minutes. Greg Calderero second.
Dave Sokoler gave Treasurer’s report – CNBA currently has a balance of $2,889 in Money Market (scholarship account), $11,940.00 in PNC Operating Account and $3,016 in PayPal Account – Total $17,846.60. Rich Yaeger made motion to approve Treasurer’s Report. Greg Calderero second.
Dave Sokoler reported on January income and expenses.
January income - $4,665 from dues, walk-ins at the business card exchange and luncheon ticket sales.
January expenses - $2,322.95 from the 2012 Holiday window event, January card exchange, luncheon and PayPal fees.
Net income - $2,342.06.
There are two new businesses in town – Ashford & Grace jewelers and Siam Restaurant. The goal is to fill up our business space.
Tom Corley was given recognition as past Treasurer and given a certificate of appreciation.
The added value package was discussed. The goal is to get us to work together and do business together. Mike Tormey was the recipient of the added value package for the 4th quarter of 2012.
March 13 is the deadline for inclusion in the Spring mailer. It is for 2013 members only.
February 20 is the deadline for map inclusion. This is for 2012 and 2013 members.
The Welcome Baskets are in need of contents. These can be coupons or physical items, i.e., key chains, mugs, pens, etc. See Anna if you have items for baskets.
Tom Orgo said that a Subway store is coming to the Orchards Plaza.
Jason reported that there have been close to 245 tickets sold for the March 5 Luncheon at Trump. There are 270 seats available. There will be no walk-ins. This information will be put on the website. When tickets are sold out, this information will also be put on the website. Five gold and five silver sponsors have been sold. Seven vendor tables have been sold. There are three tables left for sale. Tickets are $35/person. Table of ten is $300. The deadline for ad in the journal is next week. Glen said that this is our main fundraiser for the year.
Glen said that he will be sending a letter this week to Union Beach Township Manager, Jen Maier, to see how we can help their businesses by putting our minds together rather than money behind it. Jen sent Glen a list of the 11 registered businesses. Five are not re-opening. Glen has invited Jen Maier to be a guest at his table at the luncheon. She will be given 5 – 10 minutes to talk. There will be envelopes on tables for donations. Glen would like to present a check to her for Union Beach. Jason was concerned that we might lose money at the luncheon through baskets and 50/50 if envelopes are placed around for Union Beach donation. Tom Orgo suggested that we could give the $500 added value program award. Jill Valentino made motion to donate $1K to Union Beach Provide Comfort. Mike Tormey second. A vote was taken and passed.
Glen said that this year’s initiative is to profit on events so we have a growing budget. He said the $17K we have in the bank was from the past five years. Glen said that we do not intend to lose money this year.
Dave gave his proposed budget for 2013. A discussion ensued pertaining to the budget.
Dave was available after the meeting for any questions pertaining to any facet of the budget. The budget will be posted on the website with the minutes for membership review.
The next card exchange will be Monday, April 22 at Ashford & Grace from 7 – 9 pm. They will be sponsoring the event.
Mike Tormey said that there are currently 100 paid members for 2013. He said you must get dues in to be on the mailer.

Addendum: Draft 2013 Budget
