General Meeting Minutes
October 11, 2107
In attendance: Sue Fitzpatrick, Patty Vollherbst, Greg Calderaro, Dino Nicoletta, Sheila Olt, Anna Appolonia, Glen Dalakian, Bob Gasaway, Alison Antenucci
Sue called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Sue.
Bob Gasaway made motion to approve the minutes. Michael Viola second. Motion approved.
Dino gave the Treasurer’s report. CNBA has $3,633.55 in Investors Bank, $728.98 in PNC checking, $2892.05 in PNC Money Market and $4413.42 in Pay Pal account. Total $11,668.00. Art Raskin made motion to approve Treasurer’s report, Michael Viola second. Motion approved.
Dino announced that the two Crossroads signs are ready and should be installed next week.
Greg gave a report on the recent Roundtable which took place at Huddy’s last month. He mentioned that Lillian Burry was invited to give details of the upcoming construction project at the intersection of Rt. 34 and Rt. 537. He also explained that these quarterly meetings are held with the board and some of the larger business owners in town in order to have an open dialogue about ongoing issues and initiatives.
Kim Mate announced that with the addition of 8 new members this month our membership currently stands at 199.
Glen gave an update on the advertising campaign that is currently underway with the Journal magazine. He said the feedback from the businesses that ran the initial ads is very promising. He also mentioned that the first 3 months of ads were subsidized by the CNBA and that it’s possible that may continue.
Sheila Olt’s business was selected in the monthly drawing for inclusion in the Journal ads.
The mugs continue to generate interest by residents and Glen said that the coupons for the mugs will continue to be included in the quarterly mailers.
Patty mentioned that there is a link on our website to sign up for the mailing list without being a member.
Sue presented the slate of officers for next year. The candidates are:
President – Greg Calderaro - Glen Dalakian
2 Vice Presidents – Sheila Olt, Dino Nicoletta
Treasurer – Oliver Guminski
Corresponding Secretary – Nick Deckmejian
Recording Secretary – Leanne Lucarelli
Each candidate spoke briefly about themselves and their business.
Sue announced the following upcoming events:
Oct. 17th - 6 PM “Business After Hours” at Defalco’s new location next to Perkins.
The event is free to members and $20 for non-members.
Dec. 1st – Window Painting – will take place at several locations throughout town.
Sue invited businesses who would like to participate and have their windows painted for the holiday season to contact us.
Greg explained that the DECA students from CNHS have been participating in a competition each year, in which they are given certain criteria and must formulate a business plan in a limited amount of time. They will again be participating this year and he said they are currently looking for judges from the business community. The actual event will take place in January at Kean College.
He also mentioned a new program involving the ROTC working with members of the NSA on cyber security systems.
Members of the board introduced themselves following by the general membership.
Patty introduced Dr. Proodian who spoke about the effect of healthcare issues on business.
