CNBA Business Association Meeting Minutes
August 14, 2013, 8:00 a.m.
Colts Neck Library

Glen Dalakian called meeting to order at 8:09 a.m. and welcomed everyone.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Bob Gassaway.

CNBA officers introduced themselves.

Art Becker made motion to approve January minutes.  Bob Gassaway seconded.  Motion was passed.

David Sokoler gave Treasurer’s report – CNBA currently has a balance of $2890.15 in Money Market

(scholarship account), $8814.98 in PNC Operating Account and $7318.70 in PayPal Account – Total

$19023.83. A motion was made to approve Treasurer’s Report by Mike Tormey and second by Greg Calderaro. Motion passed.

Glen gave an update on Sal Barbagallo.  He is improving at Kimball Hospital but has a long road.  He can have visitors.  Sal’s Soldiers was created to help with Sal’s rehab.  Contact Greg Calderaro to get involved.

Glen discussed a memorial for Sil Lutkewitte.  Tom Hennessy spoke about a park bench at Bucks Mill park.  he price would be just under $1000.  A motion was made by Art Becker and seconded by Bob Gassaway to set aside $1000 for this memorial.  There was no discussion and the motion was passed 23 Yes and 0 No.

Glen asked about any new businesses in town.  Rich Taylor - Artist in Colts Town Plaza and Yan Li who opened the Subway in Orchards Plaza

The new principal of the Colts Neck High School Dan Simon spoke for a few minutes about his goals and continued relationship with the community.

The Fall mailer will go out mid-September.  It will promote the October Town Hall event and the December window painting.

Cultivate connections was a great success and very well attended. Proceeds included $230 from the 50/50, $774 from entry fees, and $550 from the auction.  Approximately $1200 will be donated to OPC-Union Beach.

Glen gave an OPC Update that investors Bank will do a "Tack-A-Ten" at each of their branches in support of OPC.

Blueclaws Day is coming up.  There have been over 200 tickets sold and only a few vendor tables remain available.

Mike Tormey mentioned the Pig Roast is Monday evening September 16 at Buck Mill Park.  It will be a fun event that is a bit more family / social than networking.  There will be lots of food (not just pork) as well as a photo booth with props that will provide 4x6 pictures on the spot at no charge.

Greg Calderaro spoke about the October Town Hall event.  A committee has been formed and the event will be held at a neutral location yet to be determined.  In attendance will be Jennifer Beck, Shaun Golden and others.  We will advertise the event in a similar manner as Cultivate Connections.  The tentative date is October 22.

Glen asked for volunteers for the Electoral Nominating Committee.  Responsibilities include: speaking to candidates, some minor vetting, create a slate to vote on.  The committee is usually three people.  Lisa Aldridge, Ed Reilly, and Yan Li each volunteered.

Patty Vollherbst, the winner of last quarters Value Added Award spoke on how she plans to use the money and services.

Committee reports: Glen mentioned we need a new chair for the economic development committee; the education committee is looking for member speakers; the membership committee reported we have 179 members; and the tech committee reported about the work on the new CNBA website.

There was no speaker for this month to allow for members at the meeting to introduce themselves and give a brief summary of their business.
